Foster City Arts Festival

The Goddess of Garbage appeared at the Foster City Arts Festival. As she was displaying some of her favorite projects, she was bombarded with flattering compliments like: amazing, genius, brilliant, fantastic, and very,very creative! Now it looks like the Goddess will be teaching several classes soon.

Cañada College Lecture

The Goddess of Garbage lectured to the American Society of Interior Design Students Chapter at Cañada College.The Interior design students love her “recyclized” ideas. They told her she was an inspiration.

Oscar de la Renta and the Goddess

The Goddess and designer Oscar de la Renta discuss his exciting fashion show which benefits the League to Save Lake Tahoe. This once-a-year event is sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue at Rubicon Beach during the month of August. The league, which is privately funded, is dedicated to preserving the environmental balance, scenic beauty, and recreational value of the lake’s Tahoe Basin.

“2nd Time Around Workshop” in Colma

The town of Colma offered a “2nd Time Around Workshop” presented by The Goddess of Garbage. It was a half-day session held at their Sterling Park Community Center in February. There were happy smiles from all the students when they finished their Valentine napkin ring holder. What fun!

Baybridge District Garden Clubs

It was a sunny day in Oakland, California at the Lakeside Garden Center. The Goddess of Garbage lectured to an audience of over 100 at their Baybridges District Annual Fundraiser.

In keeping with the theme, “The Return of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party”, there was a contest for the best hat. Everyone was excited about the design projects. Questions were asked and new creative ideas were offered.

Earth Day in Barstow with the Goddess of Garbage

The Community Center in the city of Barstow, California was the site of a first-time ever, all-day event, hosting a presentation by the Goddess of Garbage.The Goddess spoke about recycling (of course) and facilitated workshops for the large crowd, who learned how to create some interesting and functional projects, which included:

• The Plastic Phantastics (plastic water bottles to vases)
• Rings Around the Table (toilet paper tubes to napkin rings)
• Heads Up (wine corks to place card holders)
• A Real Subscription Saver (subscription cards to gift enclosures)

The Goddess’ “Recycled Respite” was featured on the cover of the High Desert & Mountain Communities Spring Recycling Guide with a two-page spread and photos inside.

The Mayor of Barstow, Kathy Yas-Yent, presented the Goddess with a stone sculpture of onyx from the Calisto Mountains, as a grand thank you.

Recyclers of the Future – Boys and  Girls Club

Pictured left: A favorite undertaking of the Goddess of Garbage is teaching kids how to recycle. Carol is surrounded by “recyclers of the future” from the Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Club in San Mateo, California. The Club offers programs in personal development and education, cultural enrichment, outdoor and environmental education, health and fitness and social recreation. The Goddess had a great time and it looks like the kids did too!
