The School Director wanted a comfortable, but not homey office.  He rarely has visitors, so he needed limited seating and no conference area. The earthquake bin needed to be camouflaged and incorporated into the design. He also wanted three favorite pieces of student artwork for the wall and he chose a color scheme of blue and green, the school colors!

I had a clear vision of what the office should look like. It had to be a functional, well-designed space with clean lines, free of clutter and a touch of traditionalism.

In keeping with the Goddess of Garbage philosophy, the office had to completely use re-useable and recycled products. The recycled carpet and furniture were donated. The entry table, mirror and music pedestal were designed by the Goddess. The room is detailed with a banded color contrast ceiling border of recycled wire hangers, CDs and stars (school logo). The sixteen-foot built in cabinet is the focal point of the office. The face of the cabinet is covered with newspaper and the doors are designed to look like shelves. The book spines, newspaper with the alphabet stenciled on it and the star logo are interspersed on the cabinet.

The extra book cubbies above the counter are plastic milk containers spray painted and geometrically placed on the long wall with the student artwork.
